Committee

Matt Travis - Chairman

MattTMatthew is a recent graduate Civil Engineering and Surveying graduate from Portsmouth University. He has a keen interest in urban and transportation planning, economic modelling and Industry 4.0. He is vehemently opposed to building an economy based around gravity models and using GDP as measure of economic success.

He is concerned about the lack of implementation and public understanding of social capital economics nationally (and in Havant Borough) and tackles this through UKIPs local policy framework. In addition, he advocates that the means of production should be as close as possible to the individual, not as we currently see with monopolised low-choice, low-control, low-value, low-quality, low-wage, EU backed globalisation.

He is a classical liberal. He is a free-thinker, keen-historian and hardened scholar with multi-disciplinary knowledge and interests.

John Perry - Treasurer

John Perry, UKIPJohn has lived in Havant Borough since 1979 and his background is an electronics engineer and qualified accountant having working in the music industry and information processing industry.

John is committed to addressing the unfairness of Conservative policy that favours the wealthy few and cares not about the disadvantaged many.  He is very much against Labour's socialist unaffordable policies that would ruin the nation's finances.

John was the UKIP Parliamentary candidate in the 2015 and 2017 General Elections and came second in 2015.  John was also a Havant Borough Councillor between 2014 and 2018.

John vigorously opposes Theresa May's Chequers Statement that effectively keeps the UK in the Single Market, Customs union and under the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

Sharon Collings - Secretary

sharonsSharon has lived in Havant for 27 years and have seen the town centre neglected almost to a state beyond repair.  Our parks lack imagination, aren’t accessible to all and need some real investment.  The current council are hell bent on ridding us of all green spaces to build as many properties as possible without any consideration for the impact on residents, environment, traffic or pressure on local services.  Once the land is gone – it’s gone. Sharon opposes the Tory Local Plan 2036.

Sharon has worked in Social Care for many years and understands the challenges we face. Havant like all towns has an aging population, yet there has been very little provision to support our mature residents.  This is just wrong; and Sharon would love the opportunity to address these issues.  Sharon believes that the future of Havant should be to meet the residents’ needs and not the National Tory agenda.

Our schools are experiencing severe cuts to their funding year on year.  If our Children are to be our future – shouldn’t we be ensuring they have all the funding and support they need?  Havant needs inspiration, investment and love.
